I Caught the Fever! - Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning

Ok. I was lured to this book. I read the review of a fellow book blogger, Loves to Read for Fun and was intantly hooked. I'm going to skip the storyline synopsis - because while the storyline was fresh and unique, that's not what had me hooked.

Moning has a writing style that sucks you into the world of MacKayla Lane, a 22-year old Georgia bell. Huh? Georgia Bell? I'm sure you're asking -- what the heck does this have to do with Fae and Druid & such? Well that's my point. The world of MacKayla Lane is so masterfully written - it's believable. The story is first-person narrative, from MacKayla's point of view. She's telling the story of her life in the past tense. Now typically that style would annoy me, but MacKayla's persona is so well written, I didn't even mind.

In Darkfever, you'll meet MacKayla Lane. You'll learn of the death of her sister Alina.  You'll be introduced to Jericho Barrons (oooooh-La-La)..I could go on --but I won't.  I just can't talk about the synopsis without throwing in spoilers.

Another thing about Moning -- she's the queen of cliffhangers!! Even if you can't stand cliffhangers -- you've gotta pick up this serives. OMG I can't -- no I won't go into more detail. You'll have to experience it for yourself. I mean, I knew what I was getting into by reading the series - but I was still surprised when I reached the end of the book. Don't get me wrong, it's a "good" surprise though. Because at that point, simply I reached over and picked up Bloodfever.  With the knowledge of a cliffhanger -- I had to have the next one handy. :)

Go on -- get your read on for the Fever series -- you won't regret it!
